PGCE Primary Education
“I chose to study my PGCE at Edge Hill as I had heard from teachers I’d worked with how prepared their trainees were when on their teaching placements and I was really impressed with the support material supplied. I wanted to study somewhere that would provide me with opportunities to observe and work with outstanding tutors and trainees - and I feel that’s what Edge Hill offers.
When I started the course it wasn’t what I really expected. I thought it would be more like my honours degree, but I found the people on the PGCE became true friends that can be relied upon, and in turn, people you want to help and support too.
I knew the course would be challenging, but I never expected to enjoy it so much at the same time. The endless nights of planning and preparing are completely worth it when you teach a successful lesson and your work is recognised in your assignments.
My confidence has spiralled and I have established myself as the teacher I want to be as a result of the constructive but kind comments I’ve received from teachers, tutors and fellow trainees. I have found my own personal teaching style, which has been encouraged and inspired by the tutors at Edge Hill.”
