Mark Clarke

I’ve now developed a real passion for the subject of psychology and each perspective has offered its own fascination, enabling me to develop a broad understanding of the complexities of humanity and the human experience.

“I chose the BSc (Hons) in Psychology for two main reasons. Firstly, I felt the time was right for a change after under-achieving at school and working in various unfulfilling jobs for a number of years. Secondly, after having intermittent depressions since childhood, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 28, and this gave me a desire to understand the mind more and put myself in a position where I could help others who might not be as fortunate.

I have enjoyed the course immensely and the prospect of leaving next year is a sad one for me. I am open and honest about my condition and it has been met with understanding and care, not only from those who work in the faculty, but also from my fellow students, which has been a really refreshing and invigorating experience.

I’ve now developed a real passion for the subject of psychology and each perspective has offered its own fascination, enabling me to develop a broad understanding of the complexities of humanity and the human experience.

I’m hoping to continue in this field and study a PhD as I’ve been able to achieve good grades whilst at Edge Hill, helped because I enjoy the subject matter. I no longer approach study as a laborious task but one of fascination and wonder.

This course has enabled me to view the world, and those within it, with a broader perspective and understanding. The abilities I have developed at Edge Hill will allow me to progress and hopefully succeed in any plans I make for the future.”
