As University Secretary at Edge Hill University, Lesley Munro has responsibility for academic administration including the Registry, Admissions, Collaborative Provision and Planning. She chairs the Fees and Bursaries Group, the Retention Strategy Group, the Regulations Review Group and acts as Secretary at all Board of Governors’ Committees, with responsibility for governance issues. She also provides administrative support to the Chancellor.

First joining the University in 2003 as Academic Secretary, she was appointed to University Secretary in 2007 and then Clerk to Governors in 2009. With a first degree in Politics from Lancaster University (1971) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (1980), Lesley started her career in higher education administration as Faculty Registrar at Preston Polytechnic (now the University of Central Lancashire) in 1979 where she progressed to be Deputy Academic Registrar, Head of Admissions and finally Academic Registrar.

Nationally, Lesley chairs the Higher Education Bursaries and Scholarships (HEBSS) Steering Group for the sector and is a member of the Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA) and the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) Employers Pensions Forum.

With a firm commitment to the development of the administrative profession within higher education, Lesley was a founder and Executive member of the Association of Polytechnic Administrators (APA). She is a Fellow of its successor body, the Association of University Administrators (AUA) and a mentor for the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration.
