“I really enjoy my course and how it covers such a wide range of areas. For me personally, the best part has been mixing up media and being encouraged to merge traditional 2D aspects while getting to grips with the latest CGI software. Having the chance to listen to guest speakers from the animation industry has also been a great experience.

All these opportunities have had a huge impact on my ideas and helped to twist and turn them in different directions, resulting in exciting products I’m extremely proud of. Edge Hill’s ‘all-on-one’ campus means everything you need is close at hand and the tutors provide a balanced combination of friendliness and discipline, always there to offer useful guidance if you are stuck with a challenge. Also, it is a really picturesque site that’s close to Liverpool and Manchester, and not far from the new BBC MediaCity.

The facilities here are fantastic and I’ve found the practical aspects of the course to be of real benefit. We are given briefs which teach us about how important it is to meet deadlines whilst allowing us the freedom to make our own decisions. These enable you to find out what works and you learn how to avoid becoming too precious about things.

I am planning to return to Edge Hill University after I graduate to study a PGCE in Applied Art and Design allowing me to combine my love of animation with teaching. I’ve become a lot more disciplined in my subject area over the years and believe I can now convey it to children and young adults in a fun and interesting way.”
