Chris Trinick

Christopher Trinick began his professional life as a secondary school teacher. After eight years, he entered educational administration with the London Borough of Ealing, subsequently serving in Bradford and Salford before being appointed as Director of Education in Solihull in 1991. He became Chief Education Officer for Lancashire County Council in 1996 and from 2001 he led the Council's change programme in response to the Local Government Act 2000. He was appointed Chief Executive in 2002 and under his leadership Lancashire County Council achieved the Audit Commission four star status. On his retirement in 2008, Christopher was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire.
During his career Christopher has served on the boards of Excellence North West, Foundation for Information Technology in Local Government and, from 2001 to 2007, the Adult Learning Inspectorate. He was the Treasurer of the Society of Education Officers from 1997 to 2002 and is a current member of the Ofsted Board. He took over as Chair of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in November 2008. In March 2008 he was appointed as one of Edge Hill University's two Pro-Chancellors, and makes a particular contribution to the ceremonial and representational aspects of that role.
He is a keen fly-fisherman.
