I liked the fact that the course is organised so that you go into school early on in your training and a large part of the year is made up of school-based placements.

“I’d heard about Edge Hill’s excellent reputation and so took part in the Student Associates Scheme during my undergraduate degree. It gave me a good insight into the PGCE and what it would involve, so I knew I’d be studying a well put together and highly respected teaching qualification.
I liked the fact that the course is organised so that you go into school early on in your training and a large part of the year is made up of school-based placements. It was good too to find that staff in the placement schools are extremely helpful and supportive to you.
One thing I really enjoyed was taking pupils away on trips to experience new things for themselves. I’ve learnt that these activities can be so important in getting a subject across in a different way and can raise self-esteem and confidence, as well as being lots of fun!
Another good aspect of the Science PGCE is the opportunity to undertake an enhancement course. I was offered a Physics enhancement course which boosted my knowledge and gave me a real educational insight, which is what a PGCE should be all about. My ambition now is to be an inspiring, exciting and enthusiastic teacher and I feel that, as I come to the end of my PGCE, I am beginning to realise this.”
