“I went to a few open days at other universities and wasn’t exactly blown away by what I heard. However, when I went to Edge Hill, Alan Bedford did a talk on Biology and what the course would involve, and I found it really interesting. The lecturers seemed easy to talk to and interested in what they were teaching. I also found the grounds really attractive; it looked like a place I would be happy to spend three years in.
“At the start of the course, we had a trip to Liverpool. This was really valuable, as it allowed us to bond with other students and the lecturers who went with us. The course also involves other trips out of Liverpool, and the fact that we do lab work almost every lecture is another highlight. In the second year, you go out into a workplace related to what you hope to do after university. This hands-on information about your possible future job could give you the edge in a job application.
“The small student groups on the course make it really different from most other universities. We aren’t just another faceless student to our lecturers, which really helps if you have a problem. My tutors make lectures fun, doors are always open; they really are a great help.”
