Please note, this information is for prospective UK students joining full-time PGCEs at Edge Hill University between September 2012 and August 2013.

Fees, Grants and Loans

Eligible students will not have to pay up-front for their tuition. The cost of tuition will be paid by a loan which students will only start to repay once they have left their course and are earning over £21,000.

Full-time students studying a PGCE can benefit from a range of financial support. (Please note the following figures have been issued by the Government and may be subject to change.)

No Upfront Costs

  • You don't have to pay for your course yourself upfront;
  • You can get a loan to cover the cost of your tuition, which you only start to pay back when you are earning over £21,000 a year.

  • Available to help with living costs such as food, accommodation and travel;
  • A loan of up to £5,500 will be available if you live away from home and study outside London (e.g. at Edge Hill University);
  • A loan of up to £4,375 will be available if you live with your parents.

Non-Repayable Grants

  • Available to help with living costs such as food, accommodation and travel;
  • If your household income is up to £25,000 you will be entitled to a full grant, of £3,250, which you won't have to pay back;
  • If your household income is between £25,000 and £42,600 you would be entitled to a grant of between £50 and £3,250, which you won't have to pay back.

Scholarships

Our Excellence Scholarship scheme can make a substantial financial difference to your student life. Most scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to full-time applicants who make Edge Hill their first choice by firmly accepting a place.

In 2012 we anticipate providing at least £100,000 in Excellence Scholarships, including competitive awards for Determination, Commitment and Achievement in:

  • Sporting Excellence
  • Excellence in Performing Arts
  • Creative Arts
  • Volunteering

Visit www.edgehill.ac.uk/scholarships for more information.

Deferred Entry

Please note, for students deferring entry to Edge Hill University, the tuition fee and financial support arrangements applicable are those which prevail in the year of entry and not the time of an offer or acceptance of a place.

EU Students

Tuition fees for EU students are the same amount as those for UK students.

If you are an EU national and you have been living in the European Economic Area (EEA) and/or Switzerland for three years before your course begins, you are probably eligible for a tuition fee loan meaning the course does not have to be paid for upfront. You may also be eligible to apply for additional financial support, depending on your individual circumstances.

For further information on the financial support available to EU students, visit www.ukcisa.org.uk.

Overseas Students
