Introduction to the eQT Pathfinder Project

The main focus of the national Pathfinder Programme is to design, plan, and implement activities and ‘transformation processes’ to effectively embed elearning within an institution, and therefore impact on organisational change and development. Each of the 30+ institutions taking part in the programme have defined their own projects with specific aims and projected deliverables.

The eQT (eQuality and Tools) project focuses on the development of a coordinated and coherent set of processes, guidance, professional development activities, artefacts, and associated evidence-based case studies, to assist in quality assurance and enhancement of elearning for staff and student experiences in partnership delivery arrangements and off-campus locations.

Edge Hill’s e-benchmarking exercise (2006) identified elearning within its partnership arrangements and off campus locations as an issue of concern, despite good general co-ordination by the institution and strong support for learners through LS and Student Services, highlighting:

"…the risk of inconsistent and disjointed elearning experiences for learners studying via such partnerships due to the growing number of such relationships and the bespoke nature of each partnership arrangement. There are underexploited opportunities to develop transition and induction into HE for the FE and school sectors as part of the university’s commitment to access, widening participation and lifelong learning."

As the project progresses, further details about the contents of the toolkit, including abstracts, processes and downloadable resources will be available from the left hand menu. If you have a particular interest or expertise in any of the areas and would like to contribute, or if you would just like to learn more about our project, please contact Peter Reed (eQT Pathfinder Project Co-ordinator) reedp@edgehill.ac.uk.
