Edge Hill alumnus supports future student success

Former student Victoria Kermode, Recruitment Co-ordinator at Matalan, recently returned to campus to offer careers advice and support to 3rd year Business and Management students.

Victoria gave the students an overview of her experiences since graduating in 2008 and an insight into her varied role within Human Resources at Matalan’s North West Head Office.

The students were also given advice on the graduate interview process, including tips for letters of application, telephone interviews and how to stand apart from other applicants at assessment centres.

Victoria said: “I am keen to offer support to students in their graduate jobs search as I was in the same position not long ago and working for Matalan has been a great career choice for me. The company recruited over forty graduate roles last year and I am keen to offer advice to assist Edge Hill students in successfully applying for these vacancies.

“We offer our graduates varied and challenging roles within the areas of buying, merchandising and finance. They benefit from training and development support with excellent progression opportunities available.”

If you feel you’ve benefited from your time at Edge Hill, why not give something back to current and future students? Edge Hill is continually building upon its network of former students who are able to help those about to enter the jobs market.

If you would like to offer work placements in your company, advertise job vacancies or deliver an inspirational careers talk, contact the Alumni Team, even small contributions can make a big difference.
