All aboard for journalism expert

A media expert from Edge Hill University will be delivering a series of lectures around journalism on board one of the most prestigious cruise ships in the world this summer.

Following his last successful stint on the QE2 Marc Stanton, Senior Lecturer in Journalism, has been asked by Cunard to return to deliver a number of thought-provoking talks on the new Queen Elizabeth.

He will join the Baltic cruise departing from Southampton on the 1st July, and will travel to Hamburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg and Tallinn in Estonia where he will enthral guests with his lectures on war reporting and investigative journalism.

Marc said: "The fact that Cunard have again asked me to give the lectures illustrates the exceptionally high standard of lecturers that are at Edge Hill University and the regard they are held in around the country.  I'm delighted that I'm able to take our expertise and knowledge to other countries.

"Lecturing on a cruise ship is a bit like presenting a TV programme in that it has to be extremely entertaining, informative and educational.  For this reason, lecturers from the Media Department at Edge Hill are admirably suited to this type of work.  I'm sure that my voyage will further enhance the reputation of Edge Hill to a wider audience.

"On a personal note, this also means that I shall be one of the few people in the world to have travelled on all three of the Queen Elizabeths.  I originally went to America as a seven year old child on the original Queen Elizabeth so it's a fantastic opportunity for me.
