Last chance to nominate hard-working students for careers awards

Have you had an outstanding Edge Hill University student who has worked for you? Then why not nominate them for a special award?

The Careers Centre is hosting a ceremony on 5^th April to acknowledge the fantastic contribution that students make within the community in the workplace and is urging people to put forward the most deserving names.

Nominations are being taken until Friday 25^th March in two key categories - Volunteer of the Year and Employee of the Year.

Volunteer of the Year is to recognise the student who has given up their free time without pay to help others whilst successfully juggling their studies The University offers lots of exciting opportunities to volunteer within the local community and abroad in everything from healthcare to wildlife and the award is to thank the most outstanding student in this category. Nominations are accepted from any organisation that benefits from student volunteers.

Employee of the Year is to acknowledge an excellent student who combines their paid job with study and/or has overcome personal difficulties to excel in their workplace.  Nominations can be taken from any employers who employ our students. 

Jacqui Howe, Head of Careers, said: "Ensuring that our students develop the skills and knowledge that they need to progress to fulfilling and suitable careers is one of our main concerns. We recognise that it can be a difficult task to juggle studies and work successfully, which is why we have introduced these awards. The awards acknowledge our most outstanding students who have made a great contribution to the local community either through employment or volunteering opportunities. There is still time to nominate who you think is most deserving of an award so hurry and show your appreciation of the work that our students do."

Awards will also be given out on the night to a number of employers and organisations who have made a significant contribution, in partnership with the Careers Centre to developing our students' employability.
