As times goes by

The Alumni Team recently welcomed a group of former students to the launch exhibition tracing the history of Edge Hill University as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations.

The exhibition coincides with the publication of a new history book of Edge Hill, A Vision of Learning: Edge Hill University 1885-2010, by Fiona Montgomery and Mark Flinn. The book is available to purchase through Blackwells by visiting Blackwell.co.uk.

The exhibition includes old photographs and other memorabilia including badges, scarves, magazines, clothing and unusual items, many of which were donated by alumni.

Sarah Riley (nee Waite), whose Katherine Fletcher hall jumper was included in the exhibition, travelled from her hometown in Yorkshire to attend the event with her student friend, Sandy Hayes (nee Cumming). At the event they were reunited with Vanessa and Patrick White, old friends whom they have exchanged Christmas cards with, but have not met, since the late 1980′s.

Sarah said: “It was great to open the book and find myself in the College bar posing for a picture for the 1984 prospectus and then to also have a chance meeting with friends that I have not seen since graduation. We have kept in touch and shared news over the years so it was lovely to see them again and to meet their daughter. We recognised each other instantly! We are now considering a reunion back on campus next year; hopefully we can get our other Edge Hill friends all back together on campus again.”

If you graduated in 1984 and would like to express your interest in attending this reunion, or would like further information on organising your own reunion, contact the alumni team on alumni@edgehill.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.

Alumni are welcome to come and view the free exhibition, which will be showing in the Faculty of Health building foyer on the Ormskirk campus, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm until January 2011.
