Stepping Back to the Future

Edge Hill University’s Corporate Communications team are taking a step Back to the Future for a gruelling sponsored walkto mark the institution’s 125th anniversary

As part of the birthday celebrations the department decided it would be a fitting gesture to mark the anniversary theme Shaping Futures by linking the past with the present.

Never people to shy away from a challenge they came up with the idea of undertaking a 15-mile sponsored walk from the original University site in Durning Road in Edge Hill, Liverpool back to the Ormskirk campus.

The event, which will take place on Wednesday 24th November, will be used to raise money for the Alumni Fund, which will help to support University hardship funds and the new alumni-sponsored Excellence Scholarship.

Caroline Mitchell, the University’s Affinity Officer who came up with the idea for the walk, said: “Edge Hill has been shaping futures for 125 years. True to its original motto, ‘from knowledge, opportunity’, the University has given thousands of students, many from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups, the chance to learn, develop and succeed. This is why the team is using the special anniversary year to raise money to contribute to the Alumni Fund, which will help shape the future of Edge Hill students now and in years to come.”

If you would like to sponsor the team and help Edge Hill students on their journey to success, you can do so online at www.edgehill.ac.uk/alumni/donate.

Even small donations can make a big difference. All sponsorship will benefit from the Government’s Matched Funding Scheme which contributes 50% of the value added to new donations.
