Student satisfaction success

NSS

Edge Hill University is celebrating its most successful outcome ever in the National Student Survey 2010.

The University has featured in the top ten for students' Personal Development in every Survey to date, and this year is second only to the University of Oxford amongst English universities[1], with an exceptional score of 4.29 out of five. Students have also ranked Edge Hill in the national top ten for assessment and feedback.

After four consecutive top three finishes, the University is now the top performing institution in the north-west, with an overall average grade of 4.01 out of five, beating universities such as Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster to the regional top spot. [2]

In individual subject areas, students have ranked Nursing (DipHE and FD) as the best in the United Kingdom, and Dance, History, Academic Studies in Education, Management and Initial Teacher Training have all been rated as the regional best .

This news comes on the back of another highly successful year for the University. Following a 36% increase in applications, Edge Hill was awarded extra student places from the Coalition Government's University Modernisation Fund, allowing the institution to provide vital educational opportunities to young people at a time when university places are decreasing nationwide.

With an improved ‘personal best' in prestigious national league tables and graduate employment figures of 95.5% of students gaining work or study just six months after graduation, the second-best outcome among all English universities, these latest results show Edge Hill University in a position of considerable strength.

Vice-Chancellor Dr John Cater said: "The National Student Survey is the single most important measure of students' assessment of their learning experience and I am delighted that Edge Hill University has consistently performed well since the Survey's inception.  To be identified as top in the region across the 22 NSS questions, and to be in the top two universities in the country for students' personal development, is an outstanding accolade, and one which all members of the University can be justly proud.

We will continue our strong track record of investing in the student experience with the intent to sustain and further improve this very pleasing outcome in years to come."
