PGCE Creative and Media students celebrate their success
Edge Hill's Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Creative and Media trainees were joined by their mentors, as well as representatives from local schools and colleges, at an exhibition held to showcase their personal teaching practice with pupils aged 14 -19 and celebrate success in their studies.
The work on display documented projects through a number of stages from creating the original brief and ideas generation through to final artwork completion and participant feedback. The subject matter embraced art movements such as Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism which were combined with creative techniques including portrait drawing and fashion design.
This culminated with a range of artworks being produced which demonstrated a diverse mix of traditional painting and mark making, photography and sculpture through to lino and fabric printing, 3D animation and graphic designs.
In addition to the work for the exhibition, Edge Hill's Creative and Media trainees also benefitted from taking part in a number of collaborative arts projects whilst on their secondary school placements. These included work with local authorities, cultural organisations, creative industries and professional artists
Course leader Rhonda Catterall commented "This has been the first year Edge Hill has offered the Creative and Media PGCE and this exhibition has endorsed how talented our trainees are and why the course is proving extremely popular. The building of a strong portfolio during the course has been of real benefit to individuals for use during their interviews and many trainees have already secured their first professional teaching role."
