Are you one of the faces in this photograph? Perhaps you recognise the Edge Hill students who studied here in the 1960s? If so, then we want to hear from you.
It is the University’s 125th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion there will be a big alumni reunion weekend on the 3rd and 4th July when the Ormskirk campus will be taken over by our former students.
To launch the event, the University published a picture from one of its old college prospectuses from around the 1960s as part of its promotional campaign and since then calls have been flooding in from our alumni who recognise themselves or their old friends.
Former student Christine Tilbury said: “Imagine my surprise to find myself in the photo on the front of the 125th reunion postcard. I am the third from the left and I was at Edge Hill from 1962 to 1965. I wish the University well as it celebrates its anniversary.”
Reunion organiser Caroline Mitchell, the University’s Affinity Officer, said: “If you’re one of the people pictured in the photograph, I’d love to hear from you as I’m sure you have many memories to share. Why not come back and relive your student days and help us celebrate our 125th birthday. The weekend will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, look round your old haunts and marvel at how much the University has changed over the years.
“Whenever you graduated and whichever subject you studied, we hope to see you during 2010 to help us celebrate our 125th birthday.”
Over the weekend there will be campus tours, lectures, a disco and barbeque for anyone who wants to use the University’s 125th year to meet up with old friends and staff and reminisce about those days gone by.
Alumni can even choose to stay overnight in the new state-of-the-art student residencies. And for those who want to revisit old haunts in Ormskirk, there will be a range of discounts in bars and restaurants in the nearby town centre.
This fantastic one-off event is just £50 per person for the whole weekend, with accommodation on the Saturday evening included; alternatively it is £20 per person without accommodation, or £10 to attend on either the Saturday or Sunday. If you studied at Edge Hill and have not joined our alumni network, make sure you get in touch and take advantage of the benefits and services on offer to former students to reconnect with the University. Contact Caroline on the above details to become part of the growing alumni community and to receive our mailings.
