Edge Hill University topping the league tables for the north-west
Edge Hill University is one of the best places to study in the north-west and has improved its "personal best" in two prestigious newspaper league tables.
Last week it was revealed that the institution had risen to 76th place in the Times University League Tables and the Harper Collins best-selling Good University Guide. This is the University's highest ever position, and is twelve places above its previous best - 88th in the Independent University League Tables published the week before.
This most recent ranking places the University in the top five in the north-west and above universities such as Bolton, Chester, Cumbria, Liverpool John Moores, Manchester Metropolitan and Salford.
The results take into account important factors including the National Student Survey ratings, the quality of the student experience, entry standards, and the quality of teaching, retention rates and graduate job prospects.
Vice Chancellor John Cater, said: "Edge Hill is delighted to have moved up in these important league tables. It's a personal best for us and shows just how much we have grown in the last few years. The latest result in the Independent University League Tables in the Times, and in the Good University Guide means that we have now progressed by almost forty places in the four years since gaining university status. With strong satisfaction scores in the National Student Survey, a top ten outcome in the latest graduate employment tables, retention rates statistically significantly better than sector benchmarks and increased investment in staff and university facilities, I believe that we have the capacity to progress further.
"I am extremely appreciative of the professionalism and commitment of all staff of, and stakeholders in, the University as we continue to move forward."
Newspaper league tables have become increasingly popular over the last few years regarding the public's perception of the best universities. The main aim of these rankings is to inform the newspaper reading public, especially A-level students and their parents, about the best places to study.
