Students prepare for their chosen career paths
As the final semester approaches and students think about their forthcoming graduation and employment opportunities it is reassuring for them to know that Edge Hill University offers a range of initiatives to help them prepare for their chosen career paths.
One such invaluable experience has been the recent Employability Day undertaken by third year Sport Studies and Sports and Exercise Science students as part of their ‘Personal and Professional Development' module.
Throughout this module students have been guided through the recruitment process to help provide them with many of the invaluable skills and qualities employers are looking for.
Activities have included completing a ‘real life' application form for a vacancy based in Florida with The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) as well as preparing for and taking part in formal interviews which were held in conjunction with Dave Bell, Performance Director with the Lancashire based Perform Centre, and Jessica Hunt, Recruitment Consultant from GPW Office Personnel in St.Helens.
Organiser and Senior Lecturer Angela Hepworth commented "As well as enabling Edge Hill University to forge significant links with the business community, activities such as these are designed to continually help our students to be prepared for, and take full advantage of, their future employment and career prospects."
With this help and preparation the soon to be graduates aim to find future positions which best fit their qualifications, personal strengths and experiences.
