I was Spider-Man's editor!
Kerpow! Comic book creator Tim Quinn dons his superhero outfit (underpants on the outside, of course!) and leaps on to the stage to bring you an evening of cartoon capers at Edge Hill University's Rose Theatre on Thursday 4th June.
Watch in admiration as Tim takes you through the incredible history of the comic! Marvel at the great - and not so great - comic book characters from the past 150 years! And be amazed by Tim's behind-the-scenes stories from his days working on some of the most famous and best-loved comics of all time!
Aargh! The Ups and Downs of Life as a Comic Book Creator is a nostalgic and hilarious trip through comic book history from someone who's been there, done it and bought the Superman t-shirt.
In this fascinating one-man performance, Crosby-born illustrator, scriptwriter and editor, Tim Quinn, celebrates 42,000 years of comic book history. From ancient cave paintings to the Bayeaux Tapestry, people have always used pictures to tell stories. But it was those Masters of Mirth, the Victorians, who finally came up with the handy, dandy-sized comic book and created an astonishing new art form.
As well as taking a nostalgic look at some of the best-loved characters from comic history, Tim also shares real-life experiences from his days working on The Beano, Sparky, Bunty, Playhour, Jack & Jill, Buster, The Topper and the Daily Mirror's Jane and Garth. As an editor at Marvel Comics, Tim got to meet his childhood hero, the legendary Stan Lee, and later worked with Queen guitarist, Brian May, on a radio series of Spider-Man.
Now running his own comic book company, with Enid Blyton's eldest daughter, Tim will guide you through the process of creating a brand new comic character and also reveal his own secret identity - the Supreme Speedster, Jet Lagg!
So, get your capes and masks on and fly (faster than a speeding bullet, of course!) to the Rose Theatre for an unforgettable evening with one of the comic world's biggest heroes.
Suitable for 9+ (no nudity, swearing or violence - but please come along anyway!)
Performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £8.50/£6.50 concessions.
