Time to hide behind the sofa...the Daleks are back
Edge Hill University is delighted to welcome the writer who is best known for bringing the Daleks back to the TV screen, writing for the BAFTA winning first series of the revived Doctor Who, starring Christopher Eccleston.
Described as a space age Samuel Beckett, Rob Shearman won the World Fantasy Award 2008 for Tiny Deaths, his first short story collection, which was also short-listed for the 2008 Edge Hill Short Story Prize.
Rob has also written over twenty plays for the theatre, many of which have won international prizes, including the Sunday Times Playwriting Award, the World Drama Trust Award, and the Guinness Award for Theatre Ingenuity.
His new collection, Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical, is published this year.
At the event in the Rose Theatre at Edge Hill University on Wednesday, 4 February, Rob Shearman will read his own special brand of surreal and comic fiction, and talk about writing short stories.
