Make the Most of Your Holiday
To mark the week, a Summer Jobs fair is being held on Thursday 8 November 2007 at The Venue bar from 12 noon to 2pm.
There will be a number of stands available at the fair that offer help and advice on different options for vacation work, including paid work, unpaid voluntary work or summer work abroad programmes.
Representatives from a number of charities, employers and summer work abroad programmes will be on hand to talk and provide information to students. These include Cancer Research UK and Camp America and others.
Holiday work is a fantastic way for students to earn extra money or pick up extra skills and gain valuable work experience by volunteering, which could help improve job prospects after graduating.
Jacqui Howe, Head of Careers, says, "The jobs fair is a good way of showing students exactly what is out there, in terms of vacation work. A summer work abroad programme is an ideal way to combine work and travel and is a very popular option for students."
