Leading The Children's Field at Edge Hill University
A high profile children's professional has praised Edge Hill University for setting a shining example to others in early years education.
Jane Haywood MBE, Chief Executive of the Children's Development Council visited the Ormskirk campus this week, where she met with both staff and students in the Faculty of Education, who are involved in the work towards Early Years Professional Status. She also met with Vice Chancellor John Cater.
Jane Haywood said, "The Early Years Professionals program is making a major impact on outcomes for children. As Edge Hill University is one of the biggest providers of students achieving Early Years Professional Status, it is really good to meet the people who are delivering the program and who continue to support students learning. It gives me confidence that together we can make a difference to the lives of all children".
She continued ,"There is a great deal of high quality early years practice led by highly skilled practitioners, but the Children's Workforce Development Council and its partners recognise the importance of increasing levels of training and development across the early years workforce."
Robert Smedley, Dean of Education said," We are delighted to welcome Jane to Edge Hill University. It has given us a welcome opportunity to discuss the provision for early years Professional development. In turn this will help in supporting the Children's Workforce Development Council to achieve their national targets."
