Teachers to Seize a Development Opportunity at Edge Hill
Teachers looking to progress their career are invited to two informal drop-in events in Chorley organised by Edge Hill University.
The events will highlight the wide spectrum of professional development opportunities available to teachers at every level of their career.
The sessions will run on Thursday 18 October and Tuesday 23 October, from 4.30-7.30pm at The Woodlands Centre, Southport Road, Chorley, PR7 1QR, when a team of experts will be on hand to offer advice to teachers on their next career step. Refreshments will be provided.
Edge Hill's Faculty of Education is the largest provider of professional development for teachers in the UK, training 5000 teachers a year.
The University offers a range of stand-alone modules and longer programmes up to Masters level in many areas including:
- Subject specialisms such as Art & Design, Mathematics or Languages
- Special Educational Needs and Social Inclusion
- ICT, Design Technology and E-learning
- Leadership and Management
Sue Ainslie, Head of Professional Development at Edge Hill, said: "Professional development has many benefits. We can offer support to teachers at every stage of their career, from those who are newly-qualified to those keen to enhance specific areas of their practice or develop skills for a future role in school management."
Edge Hill's postgraduate professional development courses for teachers are free of charge up to postgraduate certificate level and studying can be carried out on-line or in the workplace. Many programmes also run at a choice of locations across Lancashire, Wirral, Cheshire and Shropshire.
