Helping the Helpers

Edge Hill University is giving North Lancashire's teaching assistants the chance to develop their careers and ensure the region's young people continue to get the best education.

Edge Hill, the UK's largest provider of professional development for the children's workforce, is holding a special open evening at Holy Cross College in Bury, on Thursday 21 June, from 6.00-8.00pm.

The event is the ideal opportunity for teaching assistants to get advice and information about professional development provision in the area including opportunities to work towards a Foundation Degree in Supporting Teaching and Learning. This course has been specially designed with employers to meet the needs of those already working in schools and is delivered flexibly to fit around people?s lives. Work-based, flexible and part-time options are available to help people achieve their professional aims, whether they want to increase their skills and capabilities or progress their career.

The programme is offered at Holy Cross, making it easy for people in the local area to access professional development opportunities right on their doorstep.

Visitors can also find out more about the wide range of other courses offered at Edge Hill?s main Ormskirk campus, where it has been training teachers for more than 120 years.

For further information on the open evenings please contact Edge Hill?s Enquiries Unit on 0800 195 5063 or visit www.edgehill.ac.uk.
