Fastest Growing University in the Country
Edge Hill University is celebrating an unprecedented increase in student applications - with its recent figures confirming that it is the fastest growing university in the UK.
The University has recorded a 39.9% increase in applications to study - well above the national increase of 6.4%. And since 2005 applications have increased by 49.6%
Steve Igoe is Pro Vice-Chancellor(Resources): "Applications to study at Edge Hill are now above 11,000, which speaks volumes about our popularity with prospective students. Whilst some universities in the region are experiencing a decrease in student applications we continue to experience massive increases year on year."
Despite a national dip in applications last year these latest figures show that people are not being deterred by the change in tuition fees policy, which stipulates that students no longer have to pay fees upfront but can defer payment until they are earning above £15,000.
Steve Igoe believes that Edge Hill's phenomenal increase in student applications is due to a number of factors:
"Our generous level of student support was recognised by the Times Higher national award for Outstanding Student Financial Support Package last year - we support more students from low income families than many other institutions. We also continue to invest in developing our facilities to provide a first-rate learning experience for students, and their feedback via the National Student Survey in each of the last two years confirms the quality of the Edge Hill experience."
