Marnie's a Master in Management
Former Edge Hill University student Marnie Jackson enjoyed a higher degree of success at its recent degrees award ceremony where she received an MSc in Management Development.
Having spent three years as an undergraduate and a further two years working as Academic and Welfare Officer for Edge Hill's Student Union, followed by a post as Education Liaison Officer for the University, Marnie has a strong affinity with Edge Hill:
"I was delighted to receive my Masters award and to take up the chance to meet former colleagues and lecturers from Edge Hill," said Marnie who recently used her higher degree management skills to secure a new post as Facilities and Development Manager at Cumbria Sports Academy - a community sports facility based in Whitehaven, closer to Marnie's home town of Egremont.
"I will remember fondly my many years at Edge Hill University and have been using the in-depth knowledge of strategic management learned on the MSc course to the full in my new job."
As an active sports woman herself, Marnie also contributed to a legacy of sporting achievement at Edge Hill by setting up a successful women's rugby league team.
"My Masters dissertation concentrated on the strategic management of community development in sport and I worked with St Helens and Wigan Rugby League clubs as part of the study. This has really helped me to plan ways to engage people in sport. The MSc study has also been invaluable in terms of applying for grants and managing budgets."
Marnie is taking a break from study for the time being, although she hasn't completely ruled out the prospect of working towards Doctorate level in the future.
