Book with Edge Hill at its Heart

A unique new publication on heart failure has Edge Hill University running through its veins.

Not only is 'Issues in Heart Failure Nursing? edited by Senior Lecturer Chris Jones (pictured) and written by his students ? it's published by former Edge Hill students as well!

The book, which is an eclectic collection of papers that tackles many of the issues that concern those who care for individuals with heart failure, was produced by M & K Publishing ? run by Mike Roberts and Ken Russell who studied on Edge Hill?s Accident and Emergency course in the early 1990s.

"This is a special book for many reasons ? it's written for the students, by the students and even printed by them," said Chris Jones, who is based at Edge Hill University's growing Faculty of Health at Aintree Hospital. "They have produced work of such high quality that it just made sense to pull them together for other people to appreciate and learn from.

"Most of the articles have already appeared in established journals which is a credit to the students and the level of education they are receiving at Edge Hill University."

Having kept in touch with Mike and Ken since teaching them during their time at Edge Hill, M & K Publishing represented the obvious company to get the book on the shelves.

"We?d maintained contact through attending various conferences over the years and they share my passion for this area of health care and the need to establish more guidance for practitioners.

"Edge Hill is all about building partnerships and this collaborative effort embodies this to the letter. I?m extremely proud of what we?ve achieved and hopefully the students? work will continue to act as a reference point for heart failure nurses for many years to come."

The book?s content includes sexual dysfunction in heart failure, the care of patients who also have mental health problems, and assisted dying and heart failure.
