Staff Get Results at Martin Mere
Twelve members of staff from Learning Services at Edge Hill University have been digging for results at Martin Mere Wetland Centre by volunteering support to create a better public space for the local community to enjoy.
The project, part of a team building initiative to integrate with the community, was to rejuvenate a memorial garden and to create an open space by clearing vegetation including removing the nettles and cutting back trees to show the bamboo fencing. Staff also had a go at creating willow sculptures to place in the memorial garden.
Dawn McLoughlin, Academic Support Manager, said: "We have had a great day, everyone we have met has been really interested in the work we have done and it is excellent to start a project like this and see the space develop. The team has worked well together coming up with creative ideas and we will look forward to future projects."
Their work can be viewed in the Asia area of the grounds next to the Pond House.
