Something for Everyone at the Rose
The stage is set for another high-quality season at the Rose Theatre ? with a wider range of shows on offer than ever before.
Music, dance, cutting-edge drama, poetry, comedy and a good dose of family fun make for a heady blend of entertainment to cater for all tastes.
The season kicks off with a musical double-header ? Irish folk super group Patrick Street get things rolling on September 5th, with Chumbawamba Acoustic ? yes, THAT Chumbawamba, next up on September 28th.
Completing the musical quintet, Shirley Collins shares her Mississippi memoirs, complete with songs featured in the Coen brothers? film Oh Brother, Where Are Thou (October 5th), the Grammy award-winning Tim O?Brien and Arty McGlynn continue the American folk theme (November 3rd), and Johnny Coppin returns with his traditional Christmas concert (December 2nd).
Further highlights include a Love & Madness double-bill of JM Synge?s Playboy of the Western World and the Bard?s Henry V (October 2nd and 3rd), feisty fare in the form of Loaded (October 10th), Nothing Left to Lose (November 15th) and Hoof! (November 22nd), and poetic performances by Bill Griffiths (October 25th) and Geoff Ryman (November 23rd).
And not to forget the customary alternative stand-up nights (October 24th and November 28th), along with an insightful offering by Mat Fraser ? Thalidomide!! A Musical, and a whole lot more.
As a Family Friendly venue, four fun-packed productions for children and grown-ups will take place at the Rose this season, including Puss In Boots, Fantastic Mr Fox and Muttnik ? Nikki McCretton?s take on the first dog in space.
