Mansfield Clued Up On Campus
Year seven and eight pupils from Mansfield High School in Brierfield, East Lancashire, have gained an insight into higher education following a day of activities at Edge Hill University.
Forty-four pupils visited Edge Hill?s Ormskirk campus and took part in a number of activity workshops designed to highlight the differences between school and university, enjoyed a campus tour and a higher education quiz.
The event was organised by Aimhigher ? a government initiative designed to encourage those under represented in higher education to prepare for, and take up study opportunities at universities and colleges.
Mansfield?s Acting Head Mr Holmes said: "A lot of our pupils will never have even considered university an option but after today they?ll have a much clearer picture of what it entails.
"Inspirational days like these help to expand their horizons and show that there are a number of choices open to them once they leave high school."
The day also featured a question and answer session whereby pupils asked current Edge Hill students on their university experiences ? Wesley Parr is pictured on the wrong end of a grilling!
