Bernard's still in bloom!
'The Constant Gardener? may not have fared as well as expected at the recent Bafta Film Awards, however a long-serving horticulturalist of a different kind has picked up a prize of his own.
Garden and Grounds Operative Bernard Williams has been presented with an Edge Hill book ? 'Human or Physical? People and Places of Edge Hill? ? to mark the achievement of being the Ormskirk institution?s longest-serving member of staff.
Bernard, who started at Edge Hill in 1962, received the gift from Edge Hill?s chief executive John Cater at the book?s official launch.
"I was 21 when I first set foot on campus and I?ve worked for four chief executives," said Bernard. "There have been lots of changes ? particularly the landscaping brought about by the new building work which has certainly made the job more interesting."
