Taking the lead on access
Performance indicators published today place Edge Hill among the country?s top higher education institutions to attract students from under-represented groups.
The statistics, published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency, judge each institution?s records against national averages and sector benchmarks.
Edge Hill is placed:
- First in the country for attracting mature and part time undergraduates from under-represented groups
- Among the top three institutions in the North West to attract young full time students from under-represented groups
- Fourth in the country to attract young students from working class families
Rhiannon Evans, Director of Students and External Relations said:
"Once again the league tables reveal that Edge Hill leads the way in terms of opening up opportunities in higher education for young people and adults who would not have traditionally considered it. We are extremely proud of our reputation for attracting students from a wide variety of backgrounds, who go on to gain degrees and enjoy successful careers. As we look towards gaining university status we will continue to encourage many more people to improve their life chances through higher education." ENDS
