Stage is Set for New Health Play

An Edge Hill-backed play is set to make its debut at a Manchester theatre festival.

Now Breathe Out, sponsored by the college, will be performed at the Midland Hotel as part of 24:7 ? a weeklong showcase for creative talent in the North West.

The hard-hitting drama, written by Rob Johnston and directed by Ian Karl Moore, tells the story of two young cancer sufferers trying to get used to the roller-coaster ride they call 'medical treatment?.

"Now Breathe Out is actually based on my own personal experience a few years ago," says Rob. "I guess it's what you?d call a really REALLY dark comedy.

"On a personal note, an added bonus for me is that the play is an accurate ? if sometimes surreal ? account of my own fight with testicular cancer and will hopefully heighten awareness of the condition for anyone who sees it."

In addition to sponsoring the play, Edge Hill?s Faculty of Health has also supplied medical props for added authenticity.

Now Breathe Out runs on the 24th, 25th, 27th, 28th and 30th July. Tickets are priced at £7.50 / £4.00 concessions and can be purchased through the Box Office on 0161 236 7110.
