Friends Reunite at Edge Hill
Edge Hill is officially Lancashire?s friendliest higher education institution according to a survey by Friends Reunited, the online database to help trace old friends and organise reunions.
Edge Hill is placed in the top thirty friendliest universities in Britain, based on analysis of how the service is used by ex students of every university in the UK. Universities are given an overall rating based on the average number of emails sent by each former student to form the friendship league tables.
Former Edge Hill student Nick Lomas agrees that Edge Hill is one of the friendliest places to study. Nick is looking forward to his wedding to Becky Wall, also an ex Edge Hill student in August. The 26-year-old teacher from Derbyshire left Edge Hill in 2000 having completed a first degree in science and maths and a PGCE teaching qualification in PE and information technology.
"The campus environment at Edge Hill means that it is really easy to make friends," said Nick. "There was a real sense of community about the place, especially in the first year when many people choose to live on campus. Becky and I met at Edge Hill and we?ve also kept in touch with lots of other friends from uni. In fact my best man Chris Miles was also at Edge Hill and he?s getting married a couple of weeks after me so the weddings will be like a college reunion."
Marketing Manager Wendy DeVille is delighted that Edge Hill is riding high on the friendliest university league table.
"Feedback from current and former students suggests that Edge Hill is a very friendly place to be. This endorsement from Friends Reunited is further evidence that the Edge Hill experience is based on a friendly campus environment. The friends that people make at university are often for life and friendships often play an important role in the learning process."
