Edge Hill joins regional beach clean
Volunteers from Edge Hill College of Higher Education will be getting their hands dirty in an effort to tidy up a stretch of beach along the Morecambe Bay coastline to promote the work of student volunteers.
The regional beach clean, on Thursday 24th February has been organised in collaboration with universities from across the region as part of Student Volunteering Week. Around 100 people from higher education institutions will be combining their efforts to spruce up the coastline in association with the Morecambe Bay Partnership.
Jennie Jackson is Volunteering Project Co-ordinator at Edge Hill: "The impact that student volunteers make in the community cannot be underestimated. This event provides a focus for demonstrating some of the excellent work that student and staff volunteers carry out throughout the year, making a real difference to the lives of many. In this case we?re coming together to make a difference to the environment. Edge Hill volunteers work throughout the year on projects that include mentoring children in schools, animal care, hospital radio and befriending schemes with vulnerable adults."
ENDS EDITOR?S NOTES: Journalists and photographers are invited to attend a photo opportunity at Hest Bank (Morecambe Bay) on Thursday 24th February between 12:30pm and 3:00pm.
