FOCUS ON CHILDREN IN NEED
Staff and students at Edge Hill joined the nationwide bid to raise cash for Children in Need.
Five male staff proved that there?s no gain without pain when they volunteered to have their legs waxed, much to the amusement of their colleagues.
Damien Roberts of the Learning Services department joined Craig Hockenhull, Danny Richards and Mark Miller from Academic Registry and Stephen Parker, the Student Union President, to raise around £800 in the sponsored leg wax, carried out by Ormskirk?s Salon Elite Beauty Therapist Emma Blee. A special tea party held by Academic Registry provided much needed refreshments for all, and with a raffle raised a further £400.
And the men weren?t the only ones to bare some flesh for a good cause. Ladies student sports teams posed for a 'rather revealing? calendar that went on sale for £2.50 raising £320.
Meanwhile, at the Sporting Edge, a 24 hour exercise bike marathon took place, with eight staff sharing half hour stints to cover 797 kilometres, adding £250 to the coffers.
Other activities included the sale of Pudsey bear badges, scratch sheets and raffle tickets, as well as a fancy dress collection and a sponsored student break-out.
