PRIZE AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENTS
Special prizes were awarded to seven Edge Hill students for their outstanding achievements whilst studying at the College of Higher Education.
Family and friends joined Edge Hill Directors, former Chair of Governors, Brian Millner, who presented the awards, and current Chair of Governors David Tomkins in congratulating students, who had just received their end of year results at the Ormskirk Campus.
? Alison Brady of Ormskirk gained the highest average mark and picked up the prize award for Best Final Year QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) student ? Amanda Gallagher picked up the prize award for her friend Andrea Johnson, who achieved the highest average mark of all those taking undergraduate degrees. Andrea, who was out of the country on results day, achieved a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems ? James Stack, of St Helens, picked up the prize for Best Part Time Degree student achieving a BSc (Hons) in Psychology ? Lara Hyam, of Chorley, picked up the Best First Year QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) award ? Alison Gamble, of Macclesfield, picked up the prize award for Best Final Year Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning Support ? Ruth King?s mother, Margaret, accepted her prize for Best First Year Degree student. Ruth has completed Part One of the BSc Business and Management Studies degree, and is working in the USA for the summer ? Mark Liptrott, of Skemersdale, picked up the award for Best First Year Degree student to come through Edge Hill?s Fastrack scheme, the six-week access to higher education course
Prize winners received £100 and a certificate of achievement.
Rhiannon Evans, Director of External Relations praised the commitment demonstrated by the group, many of whom achieved coveted first class honours degrees.
"Many of you have had to juggle work and family commitments to achieve your goals, most of you having chosen to return to education after some years away from school or college. Your outstanding achievements are a passport to further success, whether that be in additional study or in future careers."
Students will formally graduate at a ceremony at Lancaster University next Friday 16th July.
