SPORTING ACHIEVEMENT RECOGNISED
Sporting achievement at Edge Hill was formally recognised at the Annual Sportsman?s Dinner at the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport. Organised by Edge Hill?s Athletic Union, awards were presented to individuals and teams for their outstanding performances throughout the year.
The men?s hockey team was awarded Team of the Year and Karen Gilbody picked up the Dan Logan Memorial Trophy for her outstanding contribution to the Athletic Union. This special award is in memory of the Edge Hill rugby player who died of testicular cancer last year.
David Wright is Athletic Union President, he said: "The dinner was a fantastic success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. Edge Hill has had a good sporting season with significant success in women?s football, with the team gaining promotion this season. The men?s hockey team reached the national final and men?s football and rugby league teams progressed to the latter stages of the nationals. We hope to continue to go from strength to strength and we?re looking forward to the challenges ahead for next season." ENDS
