A TASTE OF TEACHING IN NE LINCS

Residents of North East Lincolnshire interested in a career in teaching are invited to attend free teaching taster courses run by Lancashire?s Edge Hill College of Higher Education.

The tasters, to be held in the Hotel Elizabeth in Grimsby on 22nd, 23rd and 24th March, are specially designed to offer people the chance to find out whether teaching is for them. Sessions include a day in a local school to observe teachers in practice, as well as two days spent covering key aspects of teaching, to provide an insight into the role of the teacher within the school community.

Edge Hill?s partnership with North East Lincolnshire Local Education Authority means that trainee teachers, who choose to study at Edge Hill?s Ormskirk Campus, can take up placements in North East Lincolnshire schools.

As one of the UK?s leading providers of teacher training programmes Edge Hill has an established reputation for providing quality training for teachers. The partnership with North East Lincolnshire has opened up opportunities for prospective teachers from outside the north-west to take advantage of quality training, as well as placement opportunities in schools beyond the region.

Angela Milner is Head of Initial Teacher Training at Edge Hill. She said: Teaching taster courses can help those thinking about a career in teaching to make a decision about whether to take up training. It?s an ideal way to find out more about the range of routes into teaching at primary and secondary level. Our partnership with North East Lincolnshire Directorate of Learning and Childcare means that some of our Secondary and KS 2/3 trainees can complete their full time course with as little as 15 weeks spent studying away from home, taking up placements in schools in NE Lincs."
