Facilities
The University Library at Ormskirk provides access to 250,000 items which include books, journals, audio - visual items and electronic resources (including 11,000 electronic journals and 45,000 e-books). In addition you can find:
- Networked computer provision (over 160 workstations)
- Black and white and colour printing
- Scanners and CD writers
- 500 study spaces for students
- Individual study carrels and bookable rooms
Computer Access
There is access to networked computers throughout the building as well as scanning, black & white and colour printing, and CD writing facilities.
- Open access computers are available on all floors of the University Library
- Assistive Technology can be found on the 1st Floor in the Edge Ahead Centre
- W-iFi is available throughout the University Library
Study
The University Library provides a range of study spaces – both quiet and silent study areas, bookable individual study carrels with a computer, and group rooms with a range of equipment including overhead projectors, TV and video, and flip charts. Additional equipment needed can be booked here

Study Rooms are bookable via the Learning Services: Booking Area available via Blackboard in the GO portal or by contacting a Learning Services Helpdesk

The Edge Ahead Centre, based on the first floor of the University Library, offers study and ICT skills support in one-to-one sessions or group tutorials. There are also computers with a range of assistive software to aid reading, writing and study skills.
Book Ends cafe is on the ground floor of the University Library which also offers a group working environment with comfortable seating, a newspaper area, plasma screens and a careers area.

Facilities
The LINC building is a major focus for teaching and learning, providing access to over 200 computers.
- Access to 220 computers (open access and ICT classrooms)
- TV studio
- Radio production facilities
- Non-linear editing facilities
- Multimedia production
Staff from across Learning Services are based in the LINC to provide advice, support and training for IT, media and learning support needs.
The Training and Development Agency (TDA) Test Centre is situated on the ground floor of the LINC.
Media Equipment loans
Staff and students can access a wide range of media and audio visual equipment from the LINC Help Desk by presenting a library card during opening hours.
Equipment for loan includes camcorders, cameras and all associated accessories. In addition digital recorders and presentation equipment can be borrowed.
All equipment loans are free however, loan lengths may vary and a fines system is in place for overdue items and any damages.
Media students have exclusive access to a wide range of professional, broadcast quality media items. Equipment can be booked one week in advance. Please see our on-line request form. For a full list of the equipment, please see the library catalogue.
Production Booths
Booth 1 & 2 - Avid Express Pro, PC based professional editing software. Open Access.
Booth 3 - Audio Booth. Copy and record audio to and from PC, CD, or Tape.
Booth 4 - Copying Booth. Basic video editing, copying, and transferring tape to DVD or to PC. Open Access.
Booth 5, 6, 7 - Final Cut Pro 7. Mac based professional editing software. These booths are for 3rd Year Media Students and are bookable for 2.5 hour slots a day. Please book at the LINC Helpdesk.
Booths 8, 9 - (Coming Soon) Final Cut Pro 7. Mac based professional editing software. These booths are for 3rd Year Media Students and are available on a first come, first serve basis.Keys for all booths are issued from the LINC Helpdesk, for any training and advice please see the Media Development Team.
TV Studio
The TV Studio is equipped with all the facilities needed to produce any genre of television show; be it light entertainment, entertainment, situation comedy or factual. The current TV Studio operates 3-4 Sony DXC-D30WSP SD cameras which are all controlled via Sony CCU-M5 control unit. There is a large production gallery which operates a Sony DFS-700 DME vision mixer. The studio is equipped with a variety of microphones line in and RX, basic graphics machine, Sony DVCam/Min DV player/recorders as well as chroma keying facilities. You may also bring and use your own equipment, subject to approval. Everyone is welcome to use the studio, but availability is limited and is on a first come first served basis. Off Air and Copying Services
Off Air Recording
All television programmes shown on free to air channels can be recorded for use in lectures. These will be supplied on DVD (or VHS if required). Copies made will be charged to your department.
Video/Audio Copying
A video copying service is available at the cost of the tape. Different formats can be copied (Mini DV, 8mm, Hi8, VHS, SVHS and VHS-C) and conversions made (VHS PAL / VHS NTSC).
An audio copying service is available at the cost of the cassette. Different formats can be copied (audio cassette, MiniDisc and CD audio).
Personal Copying
An additional cost of £1 per copy is charged for all non-academic copies of video and audio material.
Copyright
All copying is done within strict UK copyright guidelines.
Requesting a Copy
Complete a Copy Form (available from the LINC Help Desk) and hand it in to the LINC Help Desk along with the original video or audio cassette. Completed copies will be sent out to your department.

The Aintree LIRC is located on the first floor of the Clinical Sciences Centre for Research and Education on the University Hospital Aintree site.
The service and collections support:
- Edge Hill University Faculty of Health staff and students
- University of Liverpool medical undergraduates
- NHS staff from partner organisations (Aintree Hospitals NHS Trust, The Walton Centre NHS Trust, Sefton PCT) and also permanent staff who work for Mersey Care NHS Trust or Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Trust but are based on the Aintree site.
The LIRC has over 23,000 book items, 320 print journals for all aspects of medicine and health, and provides a wide range of electronic resources.
- There are 70 study spaces and 30 computers in open access
- 20 computers within the ICT training room. Faculty of Health staff and students may also book the ICT training room for training sessions.
- Access to scanning, printing and CD writing facilities.

The University Library at Woodlands has a stock of over 23,000 items devoted to Education. The collection supports Edge Hill University’s education operation.
In addition to the main collection of education texts there is a small collection of children's material, a language and reading area and a small collection of current education journals.
There are 28 study places, 2 bookable group rooms, and computer access with scanning, CD writing and printing facilities.
