About

We offer an approachable, supportive and understanding environment in which to study Law and Criminology. Our innovative, career-focused courses are underpinned by a strong commitment to student participation, designed to help you achieve your full potential.

The Department is primarily based in a new £8m state-of-the-art building with 100-seated lecture theatre, bespoke law library and Moot Court Room.

ICT is used extensively in the delivery of our programmes and this, combined with work placements and career planning, ensures you graduate equipped with the knowledge, confidence and appropriate skills to embark on your chosen career.

In 2008, final year Law students rated the programme as the best in the North West and in the top ten nationally in the National Student Survey.

Members of the Department are at the forefront of teaching, research and publication in law, criminology, human rights and social justice. Students also have access to a comprehensive collection of legal and criminology study materials in both online and printed form, to enable you to pursue well-planned and well-delivered modules.

We are confident that whatever your chosen pathway or programme, you’ll find studying in the Department of Law and Criminology a challenging, stimulating and rewarding experience.
