The Faculty of Education is one of the country's largest and most successful leaders in the field of education and training for the children's workforce. Its portfolio includes Initial Teacher Training across all age-phases, professional development opportunities offered from level 4 through to Doctorate level, partnerships with over 2000 schools, colleges, settings and organisations and a substantial consultancy strand. The Faculty holds major national contracts with the Training and Development Agency for Schools, Children's Workforce Development Council, Department for Children Schools and Families, which all play a key role in the life and development of the University as a whole.
The leadership, delivery and development of this extensive portfolio is driven by a very strong team who show real commitment to the vision to be pre-eminent in all aspects of the Faculty's work. Research is a strong theme that underpins all aspects of the Faculty's work with a clear focus on applied research in partnership with key stakeholders. This research work is currently focused around a successful Research Centre headed up by Professor Martin Ashley and comprising a very committed team of Readers, Fellows and Associate Fellows from across the Faculty.
The success of the Centre, and in particular a two year research project with a number of partnership schools, has led to a proposed expansion of the Faculty's research leadership team.
The Reader post responsibilities will include leading school-based research developments whilst at the same time having a particular focus on evaluation, which will support the Faculty in further developing its profile with partners in the evaluation field.
In particular we welcome your commitment to advanced scholarship and research and your support in helping the University achieve its aims.
