Edge Hill Celebrates Commonwealth Day
At Edge Hill University, we are home to a welcoming, diverse community for international students from all backgrounds, as well as offering study abroad programmes to students from all over the world.
Studying in a foreign country is a life changing opportunity, offering interesting challenges. Our extensive support for international students helps to ensure that all our students feel welcome, secure, and part of our family.
Part of this ongoing support involves hosting regular events to bring together the community and our visiting students. This term Edge Hill University’s Centre for International Education, along with the help of the on-campus Sages Restaurant, celebrated Commonwealth day by hosting dinner with an assortment of delicious dishes from a few of the commonwealth countries.
We used a selection of recipes including Spring Rolls from Singapore and Chicken Soup from Nigeria (donated by one of our MBA students from Nigeria) to start. We then served Lancashire Hot Pot, Buffalo Chicken Chilli from Canada, a spicy Vegetable Curry from India, and a Vegetable Casserole from Uganda. For dessert we had Liverpool Tart and some Banana Pudding from the Bahamas.
With over 100 students, their guests and the Centre for International Education staff, this year’s celebration was a success! We all celebrated and paid our respects to the countries of the Commonwealth.
