Accommodation

Most international students choose to live on campus, but for those that prefer more independence there is a variety of privately owned accommodation in the local area.

If you choose this option, our accommodation team can help you find somewhere suitable by giving you access to our register of local properties, offering house hunting workshops and putting you in touch with other students who are looking for somewhere to live.

Many students choose to live in Ormskirk, where there is a range of, mostly shared, houses to choose from. We maintain a register of properties, which are assessed each year to ensure they are of a suitable standard. A shuttle bus, Edge Link, operates between the town centre and the university campus.

Nearby town such as Southport, Wigan and St Helens also offer student accommodation and have public transport links to Ormskirk. If you prefer the big city, Liverpool is only a 30-minute train journey away.

What to do next?

Firstly, you need to decide what your budget is. There is lots of accommodation on offer so there is no need to accept the first house you see, and you should never select a house without viewing it first.

Our accommodation team offers full advice and guidance and can also check your contract before you sign to make sure they are fair, although all contract agreements will be between you and your landlord. Our advice is not to enter into a contract with a landlord unless they are registered with us.

Once you sign a contract with a landlord, it is legally binding for the period you agree to and you are liable for the rent for that period – so make sure you are totally satisfied before committing yourself.
