Can I visit the University before I apply?
You can visit the University to see all the facilities on offer and receive further advice and guidance by attending an open day. We also run monthly tours of our Ormskirk campus. Details of forthcoming open days, campus tours and information on how to book is available on our website.
Can I get more information on the course/module I’m interested in?
Further information is available on our website but if you have a specific question, you can contact the individual course lead. Details of individual course leads are available on our website on the individual course or module pages.
Can I get credits for previous learning or work experience?
Edge Hill University recognises that learning may take place in any context and operates accreditation procedures to formally recognise learning gained elsewhere both for admission to a programme and, where appropriate, for the award of credit which can be counted towards a qualification award requirement. Prior learning may be certified (from another institution/awarding body) or experiential (drawn from life/work experience). For more information contact the Faculty of Health and Social Care’s Accreditation of Prior Learning/Experience Co-ordinator, Jacqui Hitchen, on 01695 657027, or email hitchenj@edgehill.ac.uk
If you are considering applying to study one of our health and social care undergraduate or postgraduate pathway programmes and would like to apply for accreditation of prior learning, please complete an APL Form for Pathway Programmes
I am new to academic study/I haven’t studied an academic course for a while, do you offer any help with academic writing?
The University can help you develop your academic writing skills. We offer one-to-one guidance for students whether you are new to academic study or just need a refresher session.
Do you offer any help with finding childcare?
Edge Hill University offers an information service providing students who have pre-school children with information, advice and support in securing local places if required. How long are CPD module sessions (lectures/seminars)?
Each CPD module session normally lasts half a day or one full day. CPD module sessions normally run once a week for either 16 or 30 weeks depending on the individual module.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is individualised to each module, and a variety of assessment methods are used, for example, examinations, essays, critical incident analysis, classroom presentations/seminars, portfolios of evidence and/or objective structured clinical examinations.
Can I pay my tuition fees/course fees in instalments?
Edge Hill University will accept fee payments for CPD courses made in instalments by prior arrangement. This can be arranged on registration. We normally invoice for each module on attendance rather than full course fee all in one go. We can also invoice your employer direct by prior arrangement.
Am I entitled to a student loan to cover my tuition fees?
Student loans for CPD courses are means tested. For further information email our Financial Advisers at financialadviceteam@edgehill.ac.uk
