The SOLSTICE Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Edge Hill University is pleased to announce it's 5th international conference, entitled\u00a0Innovation, Research and Development: Technology Enhanced Learning and the Student Experience.<\/p>
Universities are dedicated to providing the best possible student experience, characterised by high levels of success, retention and satisfaction on which reputation and recruitment are dependent in the 21st Century HE sector.<\/p>
This conference will focus on the use of technologies in teaching to support and challenge learners, to bring efficiency and added value to assessment and feedback, to impact on employability and to support research activities that face towards the curriculum. Creative and inclusive deployment of technologies to add value to student support and guidance and communications are an additional focus of interest.<\/p>
SOLSTICE is committed to TEL practices that are informed by and generative of research. To that end, proposals for<\/strong>papers, workshops, presentations and posters are invited which consider:<\/p> The deadline for receipt of proposals (up to 300 words) is 5pm <\/strong>on Tuesday 26th January 2010<\/strong> and should be submitted via the electronic proposal form at the SOLSTICE Conference website<\/a>.<\/p> As well as the conference, this year, we are offering a pre-conference workshop and evening seminar.<\/p> The workshop is entitled Engaging with Open Content: a Framework for the Novice. Taking place 10:30am-5pm on Wednesday 2nd June 2010, the workshop considers how new skills and strategies are required to realise the potential of open educational content, presenting many challenges for novice and expert developers alike. Using three case studies, the workshop aims to review an Open Content Literacy Framework for the support staff wishing to create, reuse or repurpose digital teaching and learning content with a view to making it freely available.<\/p> The evening seminar, also on Wednesday 2nd June 2010, starting at 6pm, provides an opportunity for delegates to engage with an expert panel in a BBC Question Time Format, with a panel consisting of professors and members of national bodies engaged with the enhancement agenda in higher education in this fast evolving area. The seminar includes a two-course hot meal from 8pm.<\/p> The conference is open to everyone working in further and higher education, both nationally and internationally.
