Untold Truths: State Violence, Truth Recovery and Post-Conflict Transition

Professor Mark McGovern is a Professor of Sociology the Department of Social and Psychological Sciences at the University. His research interests include Irish republicanism, Ulster Loyalism and politics in Northern Ireland and has published widely on truth recovery and post-conflict transition including the co-authored book (with Dr Patricia Lundy) Ardoyne: the Untold Truth (2002) and in international journals such as Law and Society, International Journal of Transitional Justice, and Sociology.  Professor McGovern will focus on issues raised by the legacy of state violence as part of post-conflict transition, drawing upon his extensive background into Northern Irish politics.

The lecture will be delivered in W1 in the Wilson Centre, situated on the University's Ormskirk campus. The evening will begin with pre-lecture drinks at 5pm, followed by the lecture at 6pm and with refreshments at 7.15pm.

The lecture is part of Edge Hill University's spring series of inaugural lectures, as new professors mark their appointment and the University showcases its academic talent.
