The Department of English and History has a varied team of staff with specialisms in Creative Writing, English Language, English LiteratureFilm Studies and History. Students are able to specialise in one of these fields, or to combine studies.

The department offers a student-centred experience in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, allowing you to make a successful transition into higher education, become a capable and self-confident learner before graduating with a high quality degree and skills highly valued by prospective employers.

Students are taught by experienced and approachable tutors at the cutting edge of their subject. Teaching and learning activities are varied, with traditional lectures and seminars complimented by student participation in workshops, presentations, independent research projects and group activities.
