Are Women Really Better Than Men?

Recent research conducted at Edge Hill suggests that when it comes to learning women are indeed far better than men.

Dr Simone Kruger is exploring student experiences of e-learning by observing and participating with them as they engage with online technologies for their studies. Her research reveals that women express themselves more openly than men and encourage others to feel at ease, which leads to a sense of trust forming between remote learners, thus motivating each other in their learning. By contrast, the men in the study found it harder to engage with peers and tended to "do their own thing".

Dr Kruger said: "Participants in online courses may only succeed if they know each other well. The learning environment becomes a space in which mutual trust and support can be developed. During my research I observed that female participants were particularly successful in becoming more comfortable with one another in sharing ideas and experiences."
